A Jackson Heights volunteer fireman remains in critical condition Saturday, a day after he was hurt in a one-vehicle rollover crash.

Three members of the Jackson Heights Volunteer fire team, C.J. Redwine, Gary Robinson, and Jalen Smith, were on their way to the fire station to respond to a tractor accident in the area when the accident happened on FM 2767 just after 10 p.m.

Smith, who was not driving the vehicle, was ejected after the vehicle rolled over.

Redwine and Robinson sustained minor injuries while Smith remains in ICU at East Texas Medical Center. Friends and co-workers of Smith said that if he survives, he may be paralyzed from the neck down and possibly have brain damages.

Smith graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 2010 and attended fire academy shortly after high school. He also works at Atwoods Ranch and Home store in Tyler.

DPS is still investigating the accident.
