An early-morning motorcycle accident on Southwest Amarillo left a 21-year-old man dead on Friday.

Daniel William Campbell, 21, was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson heading east on West 46th Avenue at around 2:00 a.m. when he lost control of the bike, left the roadway and hit a traffic control sign on the intersection of 46th Avenue and South Libscomb Street.

Campbell died at the scene. He was reportedly not wearing his helmet at the time of the accident.

Amarillo police said speed and alcohol were both factors in the crash.
