A Border Patrol agent has given his life while serving in the line of duty after an ATV crash early Friday.

According to the report by El Paso Times, 29-year-old Agent Leopoldo Cavazos Jr. was on patrol near Fort Hancock when the accident occurred. He died in an ambulance on the way to a hospital in El Paso, which is about 40 miles west of Fort Hancock.

All-terrain vehicles are regularly used by the agency for patrolling the desert and other areas difficult to access in a standard vehicle. Border Patrol officials said they cannot release anymore information since the crash is under investigation.
