Jordan Simms Dies In Parmer County Car Wreck

A rollover accident in Parmer County, about 85 miles northwest of Lubbock, on Saturday killed an Austin teenager and injured five other people. Jordan Simms, 14, of Round Rock, was a passenger in an SUV Saturday morning when the driver fell asleep and drove into the median of U.S. Highway 70. The driver lost control of the vehicle when trying to recover and it rolled over multiple times before landing on its top, said the Department of Public Safety. Simms was ejected from the vehicle. Michael Hodges Dies In Weekend Fatal Motorcycle Crash

A man was killed in the motorcycle crash in Amarillo Sunday night. Michael Hodges, 38, was transported to a local hospital after he lost control of his bike and later died from his injuries. Hodges had been traveling westbound on 6th Street and lost control. He fell off from his bike and slid across his lane of traffic into oncoming traffic. He struck an eastbound Cadillac Escalade truck's driver side door. The incident happened at about 7 p.m. at 3700 block of Southwest 6th. Police said speed was a factor in the fatal motorcycle crash. The crash is pending investigation.

Stephen Annis Dies In East Texas Crash

A Huntsville pilot has been killed after his small plane crashed in Bullard area, about 100 miles southeast of Dallas. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the victim of the crash Wednesday afternoon was identified as 51-year-old Stephen Annis. His plane went down in a wooded area near Lake Palestine. Annis was the only one flying the plane. Pieces of rubble were found among the trees and on a road. Investigators are identifying the cause of the crash.

Two U.S. Army soldiers from Texas died in a helicopter crash last week in Afghanistan. According to the Department of Defense, 28-year-old Chief Warrant Officer 2 Thalia S. Ramirez of San Antonio and 31-year-old Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jose L. Montenegro Jr. of Houston, died on Sept. 5, when their OH-58D Kiowa Warrior crashed in Logar Province, Afghanistan. Both were assigned to the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. and were nearing the end of their year-long deployment in Afghanistan. A chopper crashed on Highway 90 near Crosby on Monday killing two people. An R-22 Robinson helicopter went into a tailspin just a few minutes after it had fueled up in Baytown and crashed at around 3:30 p.m. on the property of Oilfield Pipeline Co. near Miller Road and Crosby Freeway. The pilot, Christopher Yeager, 40, and his passenger, photographer Joyce Ates, 60, were killed. A local man was killed after he drove off US 59 South in Nacogdoches County and struck a candle shop on Tuesday. The accident occurred at 10:55 a.m. five miles south of Nacogdoches.
